The Junior League of Hampton Roads Supports Children & the Arts NEWPORT NEWS, VA –December 11, 2008
Newport News, VA The Junior League of Hampton Roads has partnered with Bryan Elementary in Hampton to send 150 members of their school community to see the American Theatre’s December 13th production of The Boy Who Cried Wolf.  Students and their families are being treated to a day at the theatre to see this childhood classic and then will adjourn to Bryan Elementary for a boxed lunch.  The idea for such an event came from the 2007-2008 New Member Class of the Junior League, who wanted to find a way to use surplus funds from their very successful silent auction.  The purchase of tickets for students at Bryan Elementary to allow them and their families to enjoy a day of the arts was a natural fit for the League, who strives to impact the live of women and children in the Hampton Roads area.   Mission:  The Junior League of Hampton Roads, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.  For more information about JLHR and how to join, call 757-873-0281, e-mail volunteer@jlhr.org or visit www.jlhr.org.
