The Junior League of Hampton Roads, Inc. is cutting the cards and dealing the hand in preparation for its 8th annual “Where the Wild Things Are” Casino Night! The Peninsula community will come together to enjoy an evening of professional-style Casino gaming, delicious food prepared on-site by Carrabba’s Italian Grill, live music, dancing, and an opportunity to win big in our silent auctions… all to benefit the annual community projects in support of our mission to improve the lives of women and children in Hampton Roads. We invite you to become a contributor to this exclusive fundraising event that attracts both the young and young at heart from across the region.

We are appealing to you to support this worthwhile event as a prize contributor to our silent auction. We are seeking a donation in the form of merchandise or memorabilia. Please know that the Junior League of Hampton Roads, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable agency. Your tax-deductible donation will be acknowledged at our event. The Junior League of Hampton Roads, Inc. (www.jlhr.org) is a non-profit organization of women and a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International (www.ajli.org).  Continuing a 53-year legacy of service in our community, our organization has adopted women’s reproductive cancers as its Signature Project.  The goal of this initiative is to support education related to ovarian, cervical, endometrial (uterine), and other gynecological cancers and to advocate for prevention through awareness of risk factors and symptoms, screenings and tests, annual exams and early detection.  This project will reach women across all generations in the seven communities we serve.

The 8th annual “Where the Wild Things Are” Casino Night will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 6:30 to 11:00 p.m. at The Mariners’ Museum in Newport News, Virginia. Almost 500 tickets have been pre-sold and over 1500 invitations were mailed in early January.
