Welcome to the Junior League of Hampton Roads!
Chartered in 1957, the Junior League of Hampton Roads is an organization of approximately 500 women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The JLHR offers opportunities for women of all ages to engage in community volunteer experiences, leadership training and social opportunities.
Continuing a 54-year legacy of service to our community, the Junior League of Hampton Roads has partnered with the Riverside Health System Foundation to raise awareness of reproductive cancer and provide related support services for women in the seven communities we serve. Our League has a rich history of stepping forward to address issues that are on the cutting edge or considered to be somewhat “taboo”, such as child abuse, teen smoking and AIDS. This Signature Project is a proud continuation of that history, and is especially interesting to members of the League who range in age from their early twenties on up – the age range typically affected by these types of cancer.
The true impact of our new project will be felt when generations of young women can lead healthy lives as a result of our efforts to educate, prevent and possibly eradicate women’s reproductive cancer.
None of the services that we provide to the Hampton Roads community would be possible without the continued support of our members, our generous sponsors and our dedicated community partners. Please take a moment to view the Support Us section of the website to find a variety of ways that you can help make a difference by supporting the community projects of JLHR.
It is truly an honor to serve as this year’s President of the Junior League of Hampton Roads and to lead this dedicated group of women. Through partnership with each other and with community organizations, we can achieve more than we would alone; together we can make a difference!
Warmest regards,
Mandy
