Miles of Smiles Photo Gallery 2008-2009
The 2008-2009 Miles of Smiles committee hosted an event at the Virginia Living Museum for families of children with special needs. The purpose of this event was to give children with special needs and their families the opportunity to experience the Virginia Living Museum and enjoy the Virginia Living Museum’s interactive exhibit “Animal Music: Sounds and Songs of Life” free of charge and after normal operating hours. Families began assembling at the Virginia Living Museumas early as 4:45 for the 6:00 event. Many families came from all over the greater Hampton Roads area. Goody bags containing WebKinz,® stickers, and other sensory-interactive items were given to the first 200 children. Also featured were karate and cheer leading demonstrations by Smart Outlaws. Cheers from the audience could be heard throughout the museum as the karate and chee leading groups performed. There was also a quiet room available where families could relax, color, and play with PlayDoh®.
