History of JLHR

During our rich 50-year history, we have made a tremendous impact in our community. Highlights include the founding of the Volunteer Service Bureau operating today as The Volunteer Center, in 1965 co-founded the Junior Nature Museum and Planetarium that today is the Virginia Living Museum, the largest natural habitat exhibit east of the Mississippi and one of four such exhibits in the United States to founding of the Hands-On Children's Art Program at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center is still offered today and is funded by a grant the League established at program inception.
