JENNIFER KELSAY NAMED PRESIDENT OF

THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF HAMPTON ROADS, INC.

NEWPORT NEWS -May 21, 2008- Local resident, Jennifer Kelsay, has been named President of the Junior League of Hampton Roads, Inc. Kelsay epitomizes the Mission of the Junior League of Hampton Roads which states: The Junior League of Hampton Roads, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Kelsay has been an active volunteer in the Hampton Roads community for many years.

Outgoing JLHR President, Whitney Owens states: "Through Jennifer's vision of Create, Change, Thrive, she will decidedly continue the momentum the JLHR has experienced in recent years. The JLHR is reaching more women and children on the Peninsula through our community projects and our membership is growing; without a doubt Jennifer's belief in our mission, dedication to our members and her unlimited energy will take the JLHR to greater heights."

Kelsay, a graduate of Mary Baldwin College, has been an active member of JLHR for 7 years. Her experience in JLHR includes President-Elect, Community Vice President, Where the Wild Things Are Co-Chair (2 years,) Rummage on the River Co-Chair and Publications Committee Member. Currently, Kelsay is the Quality Performance Administrator for Virginia Health Services where she has worked for the past 12 years.

At the Annual Dinner, Kelsay said the following about the development of JLHR projects, comparing them to a field of Sunflowers: "It is hard to imagine that a creation so beautiful begins with just a simple seed. The "seed" for us can be a dream, an idea, a vision. The JLHR is known for its "seeds" by creating new programs, new partnerships and new fundraisers. Whether it was the Food 4 Kids Program, Dignity Kits, Bereavement Kits, Get Set for Success, The Communicator, Fairways and Runways, Kids in the Kitchen, My Mama Made That or the Blessings Book...they all came from a seed, but they all stem from one mission, our mission."

During her one-year term as President of JLHR, Kelsay will be the chief executive officer of the JLHR. She will have general direction of the affairs of the JLHR and will preside at all Board meetings of the JLHR, the Executive Committee, Community Advisory Board and General Membership Meetings.
